As part of the National Curriculum, we are delighted to offer swimming sessions again this year. We have a fantastic covered swimming pool, which can be used the whole year through.
We intend that each class will swim for two half terms; each class will be divided into three groups and will swim for 40 minutes at a time. These times are subject to change (e.g. for trips). The swimming will take place in the afternoon between 1.10pm and 3.10pm.
The proposed timetable is as follows:
|Dates (Week Beginning)||Monday||Wednesday||Thursday||Friday|
|11 September 2017 to 20 October 2017||ASH||SPRUCE||CEDAR||PALM|
|30 October 2017 to 1 December 2017||ASH||SPRUCE||CEDAR||PALM|
|8 January 2018 to 9 February 2018||OAK||CHERRY||ROWAN||PINE|
|26 February 2018 to 23 March 2018||OAK||CHERRY||ROWAN||PINE|
|23 April 2018 to 25 May 2018||ELM||WILLOW||BEECH||ACER|
|4 June 2018 to 6 July 2018||ELM||WILLOW||BEECH||ACER|
The lesson will be taken by our qualified swimming coach, Mr Counsell. Each year, we ask for a contribution towards the cost of swimming, as we receive no financial support for this. As a result of hiring the pool out after school, we have been able to subsidise the cost of the lessons. Therefore, for this academic year, we are asking for a contribution of £18.00 which equates to £1.50 per lesson (this has remained the same for the past two years) and we would be gratefull if you could either send in cash or cheque made payable to Horsell C of E Junior School, or alternatively you can pay via your Wisepay account.
For each swimming lesson, your child should bring in a waterproof bag, a swimming costume, (Bermuda Shorts and Bikini's are not suitable for school swimming) towel and a hat. All children must wear a swimming hat - on sale at the office at a cost of £2.00. All items must be named. The children are permitted to wear swimming goggles if they wish to do so.
For swimming to take place, it is essential that we have parental help to assist with hats and the changeover etc. If you are able to help, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Mrs Agnew, at email@example.com or let the office know. All helpers will be required to have a current DBS with our school. For further information on this, please read our section on DBS Applications.
Please see form below for swimming permission.
