School plan for adverse weather

Travel to and from School

Parents should be aware that it is their responsibility to make sensible decisions on behalf of their children when weather conditions are severe. Parents are responsible for the safety of their children to and from the school.

Arrival

If the school is open, children can arrive anytime between 8.30am and 9:10. If you are arriving at the earlier time, please do not leave your child at the school gate but wait for the gates to be opened by a member of staff who will have confirmation that the school is open.

Collection

There will be an increased collection period to help alleviate congestion. If this has been advised via the website, you can collect your child anytime from 2.30pmto 3.15pm.

School Lunches

School lunches will be provided as usual for those children who regularly have them. Otherwise, please send your child in with a packed lunch.

Snow

Children must bring a spare full change of clothes. This need not be uniform but something warm. They will only be allowed out to play if they have a pair of wellington boots with them. We suggest that you ensure they are sent in with a coat, hat and gloves etc.

Unable to attend school

We recognise that some families may not be able to send their children to school in the case of severe weather. If this is the situation, please ensure that you call the school office and either leave a message on the absence line or speak to a member of staff in the office to ensure the absence is authorised.

Work

If the school is closed; we will attempt to set work on the school’s website/Google Classroom.  If you are unable to access the website or we are unable to post work, we suggest the following:

  • Log in to SPAG.com
  • Practise your spellings
  • Practise multiplication tables
  • Read your book
  • Complete any homework already set.
  • Watch an age appropriate nature programme/documentary and make a leaflet/poster to share your new learning

[Not all of the above, just one or two.]

  • Enjoy the snow – it is PE

Any changes to the above, parents will be notified via one or more of the following: the school website/email/text message
