TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES SPRING TERM
Year 3 trip to Milestones Museum (January 2026)
Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Milestones Museum, where they experienced first-hand what life was like during Victorian times. They took part in engaging workshops and explored recreated Victorian streets of London. The children also had the opportunity to dress up in period clothing and sit through a Victorian-style lesson, giving them a fascinating insight into life in the past.
Global Neighbours Day (February 2026)
Year 3 enjoyed taking part in Global Neighbours Day in support of Christian Aid. Throughout the day, the children explored the Restore Campaign and learned about different ways they can help care for and improve our world. They expressed their ideas and hopes by playing glockenspiels to Heal the World and worked together to create a class puzzle, sharing their wishes and prayers for the world. It was a thoughtful and inspiring day that encouraged compassion, teamwork and global responsibility.
Growing Artists (February 2026)
In Year 3, children have been enjoying their Art unit Growing Artist, where they developed their sketching skills using a range of materials and textures. They explored the work of inspirational artists Max Ernst and Georgia O’Keeffe, learning how nature can influence artistic style and technique. The children closely observed flowers to create detailed sketches and experimented with the technique of frottage (meaning ‘rub’ in French), using rubbing methods to capture interesting textures. This unit has encouraged creativity, careful observation and confidence in artistic expression.
Learn2Bounce - Mental Health Workshop
Year 3 took part in an engaging mental health session led by Dr Sarah Wilson, who visited our school to deliver the session first hand. Through Raising Resilience, the children explored different feelings and discussed how to recognise and understand their emotions. They also developed practical strategies to help them manage big emotions with confidence and resilience. It was a valuable and empowering experience for all involved. Design Technology Pneumatic Toys Day (March 2026)
In Design and Technology this term, Year 3 have been busy engineers and have explored how pneumatic systems work. The children designed and made their own pneumatic toys using egg boxes, balloons and clear tubing, learning how air can be used to create movement. They carefully investigated how the mechanism worked before assembling their final products, showing great problem-solving skills and resilience. The children thoughtfully considered the aesthetics of their toys, making creative design choices to ensure their finished products were both functional and visually appealing.
