TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES SPRING TERM

Global Neighbours Day (February 2026)

Year 4 took part in Global Neighbours Day in support of Christian Aid. Throughout the day, the children explored the Restore Campaign, learning about climate change, the importance of caring for our world, and the actions we can take to help repair damage and restore justice.

The children shared their ideas, hopes, and prayers for the world through a range of creative activities. One highlight was decorating their own Kintsugi pots, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, which repairs broken pottery using beautiful seams of gold and symbolises hope, healing, and restoration.

It was a thoughtful and inspiring day that encouraged compassion, teamwork, and a sense of global responsibility, as the children decorated their pots with words and ideas about how they can help fix the world.

Mega Material Art (February 2026)

In Year 4, pupils have been exploring their Mega Materials topic through a shadow sculpture lesson inspired by the work of Sokari Douglas Camp. Working in groups, the children designed and created their own sculptures, experimenting with materials and shadow. They thoughtfully linked their creations to our school values, showing excellent teamwork, creativity and reflection throughout the lesson.

Engage Prayer Space (February 2026)

Our Year 4 pupils took part in a thoughtful and creative workshop with Engage Prayer Space. The children explored themes of reflection, gratitude, and wellbeing through interactive activities designed to help them pause, think, and express themselves in meaningful ways. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop empathy, consider big questions, and enjoy a calm space for personal reflection.

Pavilions Design Technology (February 2026 after half-term)

Year 4 have been exploring structures with a focus on designing and building pavilions inspired by the theme of spirituality. The children investigated different pavilion designs, considering how structures can create spaces for reflection, calm and community. They explored ways to strengthen and stabilise their constructions, learning about frameworks and reinforcement to ensure their models were secure and fit for purpose. Alongside the technical aspects, pupils thoughtfully considered the aesthetics of their designs, carefully selecting shapes, materials and decorative features to reflect a spiritual atmosphere. The children showed creativity, perseverance and excellent teamwork, and were proud to present their finished pavilion structures.
