Writing for pleasure- Rainbow writes

Using a picture prompt/visual stimulus, the children have their own choice of the genre of writing which takes place for this lesson. Pupil Voice has been very positive and children very much enjoy the free choice within this lesson. These lessons take place on a half-termly basis and are a useful assessment opportunity for teachers to see the standards of writing with reduced scaffolding and an independent focus. The activity is whole-school-wide and supports moderation of writing within termly writing moderation for teachers.
