Diversity & Inclusion

Our library contains age-appropriate books for each year group. We know that our children need to feel represented in the texts they read, but also gain an understanding of the wider world and people within it.

Our books represent texts from a diverse range of authors, and include a whole host of topics such as young carers, hearing/speech difficulties, autism, religions and religious festivals. We also ensure books represent children from a wide range of socio-economic groups.

Children are invited to select books to read for pleasure from their year group shelf within the diversity section. Whilst our wider collection within the library is still available, the diversity section is regularly promoted within our collective worship, 'Curl up with a good book' assemblies.

Children enjoy adults reading texts from picture books to poems. Our diversity collection promotes our school vision of everyone being equally important.

New books have been added to our library collection in 2024/2025. These were purchased through funds raised from our Scholastic Book Fairs and parental donations. A small selection of the books added can be seen below:
