Year 3

Monday 16th November

Hopefully you have all received the letter about our Nativity. Please help your child learn their words from the script and for the songs they have to sing. Please let us know if you are struggling to source your child's costume. We will do our best to find something in school. We hope to create a Nativity film for you to enjoy this Christmas.

Monday 9th November

We are now well into our new topic. The children are having a great time learning about Cornwall and the village of Mousehole. We have been reading a great story set in the village called 'The Mousehole Cat'. We have also taken a virtual tour of the real Mousehole using Google Maps. This week is Well Being week and we will be taking time every day to think about how we can care for ourselves and each other.

Please remember it is Parents Evening on Wednesday and Thursday. Please remember to book via the new School Cloud system. You should have received and email explaining how to do this. The Year 3 Team are looking forward to meeting you all virtually later in the week.

Tuesday 3rd November

Welcome back to the second part of the Autumn Term. We hope everyone had a restful break. The children are back in and working hard already. We have begun our 'We are Tourists' topic. For more details about this topic, please check the new Topic Web and Knowledge Organisers in the links in the blue box on the right.

Friday 23rd October

We've had a fantastic half term in Year 3. The children have been brilliant. After being off school fror so long, we have been so impressed with the way they have settled into life at the Junior School. Their behaviour in class and on the playground is great and they are working hard in all lessons. The Year 3 team are very proud of all of them.

Today, several children came home with their Handwriting Licenses. We know that some children will be disappointed not to have theirs yet, we have made it clear that we will continue to work with all the children to improve their handwriting and that we hope to be issueing licenses to more children soon. If a child has a license, they should now be writing in blue biro. All maths and art will still be done using pencil.

Please remember that homework needs to be completed for the first Monday back, the 2nd of November. The Tuesday afternoon session is changing round for Elm and Oak in the next half term. Elm will now be taking PE and Oak will be split into Forest School and DT. An email should have been sent home to Oak parents advising which session their child is starting. This means that Oak will now have PE on Monday morning so we would like all Oak children to bring their PE kits back in on the first Monday back.

We have finished our Stone Age Historians topic and it was great to end it with a visit from Chertsey Museum. The children loved seeing real Stone Age artefacts first hand. After half term we will start our 'We are Tourists' unit and we will be focusing on our local community of Surrey and comparing it with the county of Cornwall. It should be a lot of fun.

Later in the term we will start to practise our Nativity performance which we will film for all of you and the school to see. Watch this space...

Have a great Half Term break.

Regards

The Year 3 team.
