Climate Justice Exhibition, November 2023
As part of our Global Neighbours project, the school have been ‘Getting Creative for Climate Justice’. Climate Justice is all about fighting for the people who have done the least to cause the climate crisis, but who are the most affected by it. Meanwhile the people who have done the most to emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, the people in the wealthy countries like ourselves, are those who are so far affected the least by climate change.
Each class planned and designed their own collaborative piece of artwork to show what Climate Justice meant to them. It was an important time for us to reflect on our hopes for the future and to
recognise how we can better look after God’s world. We know that we can have hope to make a difference together.
Palm
Palm’s artwork shows how climate change can negatively affect the world and includes their hopes for what making a positive change could achieve.

Acer
Acer class made this wonderful Climate Justice poster in school. It shows what the world could look like if we continue to contribute to climate change. The other side shows what it could look like if we make the right choices.

Cedar Class
Cedar’s artwork shows problems in the western hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere, where areas suffer the worst effects of climate change, they have shown the future they want to work for and the changes that we can make.

Pine’s artwork shows that a picture truly does tell a thousand words. On one side of the world, it shows what life would be like in an ideal world and the other side shows what life can be like in our current world. Which side would you choose?

Elm Class
Elm class have made their climate justice poster about only having one world and that it is melting because of climate change. They are putting their hands up to climate justice to try to make it fairer for everyone.

Ash class’ artwork shows the impact of flooding caused by climate change on communities. The impact of power stations can be seen where there is little money to prevent damage. The coins have tips for individuals to help reduce their carbon footprint.

Beech class
Beech class were concerned about the impact of the western world on climate change and how this impacts third world countries. They have create a collage to show what we are doing in our part of the world and the damage this is doing elsewhere.

Cherry class focussed on the fact that time is running out. They show the world sinking through a sand timer to stress that if we don’t act now, it will soon be too late to do anything at all.

Oak
Oak class chose to represent climate change using outlines of their hands with messages written on each palm, showing that everyone needs to lend a helping hand in order to make a change. The clenched fist represents that they are fighting together.

Rowan’s artwork shows how important Earth is. The world has been put on some paper springs to catch the viewer’s attention. The art shows what we need to do to make a better environment and what will happen if we don’t stop now! What side are you on?

Willow class’ artwork shows banknotes that show which countries are the most polluting and should therefore donate the most money to the global south countries. The letters show the impact on climate change and the problems the south are facing.
